In some cases, benefits can be deselected or removed if a relevant enrolment period is open on your benefits account (such as a Monthly Benefits Selection Window or the Annual Benefits Window, for example).
To check if an enrolment period is open, access this article which provides more details and steps on how to do this.
Should the benefit be included in that window, you will see an “Edit” button placed on the benefit tile. If the benefit can be deselected/removed, after clicking on the “Edit” button, you will also notice a “Discontinue benefit” button on the right side of the page, under the “Add to Cart” button:
To complete the deselection/removal of benefit, please then make sure to Check Out your selection. For more details on completing the selection process, please check the second part of this article.
Things to consider:
- Always check the benefit’s “More Info” page since the deselection/cancellation process can vary from benefit to benefit and even from benefit provider to benefit provider.
- In some cases, benefits can be deselected if you have recently undergone a Lifestyle event/Change in circumstance that would allow you to remove a previously selected benefit from your account. To see more information regarding the Lifestyle event/Change in circumstance windows, check out this article.
- Some benefits are locked for a certain period of time after selection, in which case they cannot be deselected/cancelled until that period of time passes. This information should be mentioned on the “More Info’’ section. If this is the case, when accessing the benefit, you will notice a small lock icon right next to the benefit name:
